Festival Goers...

To all those ladies that will be attending V Festival. Good News its not going to rain!!! Well I'm sorry I cant promise that at all. However what I can promise is that if the heavens do decide to open and make the sites an absolute mud bath then don't fear. Very.com has come to your rescue. When you've traipsed from your car through the rain and the mud to pitch your tent to find that everything you brought with you is saturated. Head on on down to the Very.com tent where you can place your order. And even get ready in one of their pods. They've even put together a 50 piece capsule collection which even included wellies and tents. So even if by some utter brain lapse you forget these you can always buy some there. Don't say I never helped you out.

Pintrest...

Something that I have got really into over the last couple of weeks is Pintrest. Its a great way to get new ideas for anything. Using it as a virtual pinboard for virtually anything and everything. At the moment I've limited myself to 5 different boards. But my list could be endless. I'm starting to find myself looking at things which are completely irrelevant to my life, like wedding boards for example, but I'm just that addicted at the moment.

Update In My Life...

So I have somewhat neglected this but for a very good reason. I have relocated myself to Sydney Australia. That's right I have become one of the thousands of British twenty somethings applying for a working holiday visa and leaving our "fab" British Isle. Although it is in the depths of the winter down under its still delightfully warm. All I hear from back home is that its raining, raining and oh yes raining.
So I'm here and I have my own apartment/ house/ flat/ well somewhere to live, looking for a job, basically sorting my life out.

Today Im Wearing...

The past two days have been absolutely miserable so wrapping up warm has been on my agenda.
First up with yesterday's outfit, my thickest jumper thrown over a white simple t shirt dress.
I even treated myself to a new polish, the delightful Barry M Nail Effects Metallic in silver.
Today is even colder and the rain is horrific. So I've gone with a black shift dress, stockings, knee boots and a nice thick Lyle & Scott cardi. Why are boys clothes so much warmer than girls :-(

Today I'm Wearing...

Well today's a bit of shitty day isn't it. Rain Rain go away come again, well never please. I thought I would brighten the day with a flash of bright pink in the form of my pleated midi skirt from H&M. Ordinarily I don't like to wear tights with it, but it was just too cold and wet to not. Got my & jumper from where else, Topshop of course, and my trusty black boots.

Today I'm Wearing...

Mondays are all always tough mentally and physically, so I've jazzed mine up a little with some leopard print. I got this little bolero/kimono/ light jacket item from good old Primark. Absolute bargain too. It was originally £8 somehow i manged to only pay £3. I've also got my khaki chinos from Topshop on, with a leotard tucked in. Having a leotard nightmare however!! 2 out of 3 poppers have decided to be elusive and disappear, so I am left with one to hold me together.

Bake-a-thon...

So Wednesday marks the boyfriends birthday, and I have been given the task of producing cakes to take to the office. Not that I mind this task what-so-ever!! I love baking, in fact I look forward to the days when I'm a middle aged woman with children and dogs and a country kitchen that I can bake all sorts of delights all day everyday.  I've stocked up with the basics so far but more essentials are needed....
My efforts will be posted later in the week, wish me luck.

This Little Guy...

I spent my Saturday night in babysitting a house bunny. Yes you heard that right. It was however filled with lots of wine, overindulgant food and copious amounts of talent shows. Also not to mention BIG starring the one and only Tom Hanks! My kind of evening.

This is the pet in question. Now I personally am not the biggest fan of rabbits, I was once bitten by one as a child and have been scarred ever since. And I'm not so keen on how shifty the are around people, it unnerves me. And this rabbit is no different he watches you from afar...mega creepy!! But this weekend I've seen the light, he is mega adorable and not a killer rabbit at all!! To top it all off his name is George, cutest name for a wee little bunny... I think so!

My New Job...

So I mentioned yesterday that I am now back on the commute to London. Now to explain a little as to why...
I now have a job, I mean I had a job at home but now I have a job that I can actually enjoy finally!!! And one that's actually relevant to my life, not that being a receptionist hasn’t helped me out of tight spot, but thank god I'm not doing that anymore.
The company that I’m working for is the fab Fashion-Lab. They are product licensing company which included the research, development and production of licensed products for major retailers on the British High Street. Their biggest licence is with Sanrio and Hello Kitty, but there are others too.
Have a look at their website  http://www.fashion-lab.co.uk/  and oh look their on twitter too @fashionlab_uk give that a follow...

London...

I've started working in the big city again, and by big city I mean London.
Quite frankly I'm pretty excited about it all.

I Love London <3
I love its diversity, the bustle, the constant amount of people, I love being about to get anywhere at any time. I love knowing that if you miss any public transport you know that in minutes there will be another one. I love having my oyster card back and my elephant covered oyster holder. I Love that I have my London legs back, meaning that I walk 3 times faster than I ever would in Surrey. I Love that I have my designated train and tube reading time back. I Love that I can read the Evening Standard and the Metro again, and Stylist. God how I've missed Stylist magazine.
I do however not love my commute. Getting a train from the ever miserable Farnborough train station at 7.46am is less than desirable. It should be banned. I also do not love my alarm going off at 6.45am. This should also be banned.

Today Im Wearing...

Two outfits here...
Last night (Friday night) was date night. Went to the Belvadere Arms in Sunninghill and rocked this outfit. A black slub yarn slouchy tee tucked into a grey maxi skirt from Zara. I love this skirt, I love the playfulness of the double splits right up both thighs and the light floaty chiffon fabric. Ive pulled it all in with a velvet belt that I got from my grandma, it barely fits me and its pretty snug but I just love wearing it. Oh and the food...YUMMMMM
Up next, Saturday night, TV and takeaway, something cosy and something pretty. Ive gone for this floral dress from Topshop. Its a tall so its just the right length for me. But I think it was meant to be more of a tunic length. Some opaque tights, and my belt I wore the other day from the Vintage Warehouse in Nottingham. Nicely topped off with a long length cardi from Zara. Very comfy

The Hunger Games...

Bit slow on the old boat here, but The Hunger Games, here we go... (Spoilers below)
So I heard about this little ditty back in November and very nearly brought all three books whilst I was away travelling - however my poor packing skills took the better of me, so I waited. A touch too long might I add. The film came out on the 23rd March and it threw me into panic. People were commenting on it left right and centre and I had yet to get involved.
Involved I got... I am have been laboriously trying to get through Game of Thrones so that I could move onto HG (Hunger Games). So weds was the day, and by last night I had smashed through it. I am in LOVE... Its been compared to being the new Twilight which I would like to stop right here. I dislike Twilight with every inch of my being. I hate the books... and yes Ive read 1 and 2 and could not bring myself to pursue the terrible writing any further without pulling out my brains slowly. I also hate the films, Kristin Stewart managed to ruin any hope I had for the series.
Now HG is utterly fantastic. I was drawn into it in a big way. And when it says you cannot put it down, its right. I couldn't, I was falling asleep book in hand powering through it because I didn't dare stop. I needed to know what happened at the end of the book. I needed to know who succeeded. I needed to know EVERYTHING.
The idea I think is brilliant, pitting teenagers against each other in war is genius. The way its written and the topics it covers speaks directly to the target market of young adults, and well to anyone I think. Its incredible easy to read, and follow.
The constant energy that keeps the book going is undeniable. Collins really keeps you going right up until the last page. The brutality of the killings is breathtaking, especially Cato right at the end.
Now with any great teen book there is always a team to fall into, (the only similarity i will allow to twilight) and that is whether you are Team Gale or Team Peeta. Katniss (our main lady) is best friends with Gale and has been all her life. Now Peeta, her fellow tribute from District 12, who is madly in love with her, who she must make the audience of Panem believe that she loves, and secretly within the arena i think she does, creates a beautiful triangle does it not???
Her love for Peeta does show and she does truly care about him, and when it comes down to it they both survive (because of a cunning twist by the gamemakers and a little game play from the tributes). But the journey back to District 12 brings Gale back to her mind. Will she stay with Peeta or move on the Gale... my heart cant help to go out to Peeta, but I think I am well and truly Team Gale on this front.

Now the film beckons and I must see it immediately...

Milan...

As many of you may know my darling boyfriend had planned a week away to an unknown location. Well the cat was let out of the bag a week before we went (much to his annoyance might I add) however, much to my utter happiness. I was off to Milan, and now I knew what to pack.
Another dilemma thrown my way was the impending rain that was threatening my trip. However all turned out rosy and we couldn't of had better weather if we tried. I even uttered the words " it would be lovely to come to Italy and not sweat :|) V.Sexy I know but its the complete truth.
Anyway onto Milan...and WOW isn't it just fab. Its got the modernism which the business and the 21st Century folk need but round some corners there is that little bit of old Italy that I just love. Now don't get me wrong I am all for the modern approach but nothing quite says beauty and romance like ancient buildings like Rome or Florence does.
The centre of the city revolves around two religions, the church and my personal religion... shopping.

The Duomo : A stunning piece of Architecture taking hundreds of years to construct. For a mere 6 Euros you can climb to the top (like we did) or get the lift... only 250 stairs it was quite manageable. Even for the likes of fitness phobe me. The views from the top are amazing, we even got to see the alps, if you squinted.
The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele: The haven for shoppers. In one corner you have Mercedes, the other Lois V another Prada and then the final one McDonandls?????? Very odd but hey everyone loves Maccas. Anyway I was in utter heaven. The way the sunlight shone through the glass roof added a magical quality to the oldest shopping mall. And right outside a plethora of shops to take any ones fancy.

We also went to the football stadium the San Siro, which quite surprisingly was very interesting, again even to me... The boyfriend obviously took a lot more away from that than I did. As soon as the tour guide started listing players I zoned out and gazed affectionately at the decor of the changing rooms.

The other thing i noticed about Milan was the sheer amount of locals walking their dogs in heavily tourist areas....do these people not have jobs...or do they just parade their well pampered pooches around all day for all to see. This was my personal fav... he even carried his newspaper all the way around very contently
Finally and most importantly the food. I indulged massively in bread, meat and other pasta/carb related goods for a solid 4 days. And absolutely loved it!!! Italy is a reason to eat, and eat alot!

Today Im Wearing...

When the sunshines in England it immediately means that everyone must dress very summery with as little clothing as possible. I went for a bright magenta maxi skirt with cheeky side splits up the thighs from Topshop, thrown on with a plain white slub yarn oversized tee from Aussie store Supre. The belt I picked up at a vintage store in Nottingham, which I absolutely love. Brought my jelly shoes out of retirement as well. Now off to a pub garden to catch some sun and drink some cider...

Holiday Packing Cry For Help...

So news in my life I now have one of those things people call boyfriends, gross right. But anyway... the delightful chap that he is, is treating me to a weekend (well actually mid week) trip away to an unknown location. Now I can hear you all now, awww how sweet, how romantic. Well yes it is all of these things, but think about it again. I am a girl of many things, clothes being one of them, not to mention shoes and bags. Also not to mention that I am terrible in decisive, and I have minimal luggage allowance too. Nightmare.
All I know is that its a flight away. The weather is going to be around the 10-13 degree mark in the day so roughly UK temperatures.
So this is where I am enlisting the help of the Internet... HELP? what do you pack? how do you pack minimally?
Ill keep y'all posted on my epic issues that are soon to come no doubt.

LFW - Burberry...

I think if I had to choose (which is obvs v hard) but if I HAD to, Burberry would be my fav show of the week. They are just so well done in every way. All the little details scream perfection. Their marketing is spot on, the clothes are spot on, the show is always spot on. The menswear show ended in faux rain, the womenswear faux snow (fnow as dubbed by Scene Magazine), and what do women get more soppy over, pretty snow!!
The similarities between the menswear collection earlier this month and the womenswear were strong. My second favourite piece was the classic Trench with the colour blocking at the bottom. LUSTING big time after that. Another thing that I am utterly lusting after were all the belts. They just finished off all the outfits completely. I loved the fox head one, but the simple bow did the trick too. I also loved the birdy jumpers. So very cute and playful, but worn so grown up like. Another lust, the gloves. Now I am a big fan of gloves, and of recent times I have been favouring fingerless ones, iPhone and gloves isn't a good match. But more increasingly I am falling in love with leather gloves, and Burberry's studded ones are just the ticket.
Now onto my favourite piece. The final coat, the black quilted velvet coat, so sumptuous, so well made, so well cut. I defy any woman to wear that and not think and feel that she is the business. Sign me up for one of those please.

LFW - Erdem...

So moving onto to something brighter and lighter for Autumn/ Winter and onto Erdem. Now this gent never fails to provide flawlessly girly and floral wonders, and this show didn't fail on that point. Whether its trousers or a jackets the florals are so powerful, yet understated at the same time. However dresses in my opinion are his forte. I wish I could own all of them. The hints of lace in this collection are just oh so delicate. My fav piece in the collection is the 3/4 length sleeve skater dress with a lace over lay over the top. Just perfection in a dress. And not only does it look good, its an ultra flattering dress to wear for all. If your boyish and slim its going to suit your body shape down to a T, especially with the slim belt round the waist and the skater skirt flipping out at the bottom, creating those oh so desired curves. And for the already curved women of the world (myself being one of them) it hides all the horrible bits and shows off all the good bits.
Now for some piccies:

LFW - Christopher Raeburn...

Ok so my third pic of the week comes from Christopher Raeburn. I have a new found love for this man and what he does after my housemate produced her menswear project on him last year. Now he is more firmly cemented in the menswear department, but this seasons collection spring boared him into the womeneswear game. The collection itself has not lost any of his charm. Very utilitarian, very eco friendly, very re-used, very functional. However, it was also feminine, soft and girly. Perfect combination of all these things. Working in giant polka dots in the form of pencil skirts, and flashes of sunshine yellow lifted up the entire collection. Not only that he has produced THE Shoe to have this Autumn/ Winter. The nylon covered wedge, what more else could you need, height and waterproofness.
Here's a few snaps from the show:

LFW - Mulberry...

Next up, my most lusted after handbags ever, and their clothes aint to shabby either. With a fabulous collection based on Where The Wild Things Are, Mulberry went full force this Autumn Winter. And where the wild things was very apt, glorious furs strutting down the catwalk, even a very shaggy dog joined the models at one point. Now they may have commited the cardinal sin of using real fur, and yes it was real fur. But they gave out a press release afterwards stating that all the fur used was a by product. Which in my view is completely acceptable. I am all for fur, I eat meat which has been killed for that purpose so why shoulnt I wear fur. What I disagree with is mindlessly killing for the fur and disposing of the meat. Now this is sidetracking and a totally different topic all together. Back to Mulbs.

The pallette was very autumnal with browns, mustards, oranges and all very wild. The knitwear was just splendid, in particular the extreamly chunky scarf below. Not only were the wintery things utterly delish the lace/leather/satin dresses were just as yummy! I am even contemplating a head to toe orange (including the Alexa obviously)!!

LFW - Mary Katrantzou...

With the end of New York Fashion Week brings the most exciting week in the calendar, enter London Fashion Week. For me London will always be the best, its always the most innovative, creative, spell bounding, showcasing my list could go on and on (I may be ever so slightly biased however). Over the next few posts I will be picking out my favourites from the week and showing off the best from the collections in my opinion. Kicking things off is my favourite designer of the moment, Mary Katrantzou. I want her to kit my life out from my wardrobe to my walls, to curtains and bedsheets, to aprons to all my stationary. What I'm saying I guess is that I want her to be my very own personal Cath Kidson.

The collection showcases the everyday product placement becoming her iconic placement prints. With everyday objects like spoons, dials and clothes hangers appearing inside the prints. What Mary can do with print no-one else can. This woman also works wonders with the female body. Creating all sorts of curves possible, bring back corsets I say.
